From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to 苹果淫院 students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

鈥淗OW SHOULD WE READ LEONARD COHEN?鈥 A talk by Dr. Francis Mus, February 18

Dr. Francis Mus, from the University of Leuven, Belgium, will be giving a talk entitled 鈥淗ow Should We Read Leonard Cohen?鈥 Dr. Mus鈥檚 talk is co-sponsored by the 苹果淫院 Institute for the Study of Canada, the French Department , and Friends of the 苹果淫院 Library.

The talk addresses Mus鈥檚聽The Demons of Leonard Cohen, an essay on the work of Canada鈥檚 most famous songwriter, musician, poet, novelist and visual artist. The text treats seven themes: Cohen鈥檚 public persona, artistic practice, alienation, desire and loss, religion, power, and encounter.聽The Demons of Leonard Cohen聽is neither a biography nor a detached analysis but a thorough interpretation based on the artist鈥檚 musical, literary and graphic work, complemented by archival research at the Leonard Cohen archives in Toronto, Montreal and Hamilton and interviews with musicians and collaborators.
