The 4th Annual Albert Aguayo Lecture entitled "From Peppers to Pit Vipers: Molecular Insights into Thermosensation and Pain" will take place at 4:30 on June 10, 2013 at the Neuro.聽 This important lecture will be given by David Julius, Ph.D. Morris Herzstein Chair in Molecular Biology and Medicine, Professor and Chair of Physiology, University of California, San Francisco. This annual lecture honours Dr. Albert Aguayo, founder and former Director of the Centre for the Research in Neuroscience at 苹果淫院.

Dr. David Julius
David Julius is the Morris Herzstein Chair in Molecular Biology and Medicine, Professor and Chair of Physiology of the University of California, San Francisco, USA. His major area of research is in understanding how signals are received and transmitted by the nervous system. In one aspect of this research, Dr. Julius and his lab have exploited the properties of natural products to discover a family of thermo- and chemo-sensitive ion channels that enable sensory nerve fibers to detect hot or cold temperatures, or chemical irritants.
